Vendange Carmel Inn and Suites Announces New Wine-Themed Room in Partnership with Award-Winning Mesa Del Sol Estate Retreat and Winery of Greenfield, California

Vendange Carmel Inn and Suites has announced a new wine-themed room designed by owner and winemaker Ann Hougham of award-winning Mesa Del Sol Estate Retreat and Winery of Greenfield, California.

Carmel, CA, April 27, 2017 — Vendange Carmel Inn and Suites has announced a new wine-themed room designed by owner and winemaker Ann Hougham of award-winning Mesa Del Sol Estate Retreat and Winery of Greenfield, California.

Hougham decorated the room in a country vineyard theme, with muted floral print shams and bedskirts on the bed, color photographs of Arroyo Seco gorge and the Mesa Del Sol vineyards, a ladder-back wooden chair and antique, pine-trimmed mirror, wine paintings, a tray with two of Mesa Del Sol's award-winning wines and two wine glasses.

The room boasts sleek, modern bathrooms with imported Spanish marble. Sleeping areas have memory foam-top beds, deluxe linens, and high-definition flat-screen televisions.

Mesa Del Sol joins 13 other wineries in partnership with Vendange to sponsor wine-themed rooms. From the McIntyre Vineyards’ room with its impressive 100-year-old grapevine section to J. Lohr’s wine barrel on the balcony, every winery’s room offers a signature luxury experience. The participating wineries include: Blair, Cima Collina, Dawn’s Dream, Galante, Holman Ranch, J. Lohr, Joullian, Manzoni, McIntyre, Otter Cove, Tudor, Twisted Roots, and Ventana.

Mesa Del Sol is located on a beautiful upland promontory at the junction of three major watersheds, and is on property that was once believed to have been a stage stop for travelers headed overland to Carmel Valley or up the Arroyo Seco River to the Mission San Antonio.

Since 2000, Hougham has continued to restore the 14-acre vineyard estate and produce award-winning grapes for many celebrated Monterey County vintners. The estate buildings have been lovingly restored, the grounds beautifully landscaped and crops now include fragrant Provence Lavender used in sachets, lotions and oils.

Lean rocky soils nurtured with organic farming practices and irrigated from a thriving trout pond feed the vineyards. The hot arid days of the uplands and cool marine night air of the Pacific provide a perfect setting for the grapevines.

Past harvests have brought Mesa Del Sol accolades; most notably the 2002 Hunter Hill Mesa Del Sol Syrah took "Best in Show" at the 2005 California State Fair Wine Competition. The Syrah was chosen as number one from a field of 2,800 wines.

Current releases have been garnering 90-point-plus reviews from Wine Enthusiast including a 93-point score for her 2011 Syrah. Winemaker Ian Brand, Mesa Del Sol's winemaker since 2011, handcrafts magic into every bottle.

Current Mesa Del Sol Varietals include Syrah, Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Dessert Zinfandel and Prima Rosso (a blend of estate-grown fruit).

About Mesa Del Sol Estate Retreat and Winery
Located on a beautiful upland promontory at the junction of three major watersheds, Mesa Del Sol has been a favorite location for more than a century.

One small stone building, a water house, and a portion of one of our cabins date back to the 1800's and are believed to have been a stage stop for travelers headed overaland to Carmel Valley or up the Arroyo Seco River to the Mission San Antonio.

Around the turn of the century, a health center with various small cabins was developed. The hot dry pure air of the Arroyo Seco Highlands became a soothing setting for those with tuberculosis and other maladies. Teddy Roosevelt was a visitor and stayed here during that time!

In 1927, California Senator Fred Weybret purchased the property and moved his family here. The main house was constructed in 1936 out of local redwood and Carmel stone. The Senator and his family lived here until his death in 1945 and the land passed on to a noted Monterey County lettuce baron from Salinas, Steve Rianda, and his talented artist wife, Mary.

With their three children, the Rianda family lived on the property, named it Mesa Del Sol, and went on to beautify the mesa, adding a pool and other out buildings and cultivating the grounds and gardens over the next 25 years.

In 1998 another Salinas-born agricultural innovator Jake Hougham, purchased the land. The vineyards were planted and the trout pond was reinstalled at that time.

Since Jake Hougham's death in 2000, his wife Ann has continued to restore the 14 acre vineyard estate and produce award-winning grapes for many celebrated Monterey County vintners. The estate buildings have been lovingly restored, the grounds beautifully landscaped and crops now include fragrant Provence Lavender used in sachets, lotions and oils.

Lisa Hazen and Don Dasher Open CycleBar Westgate

For much of Lisa Hazen's life, she has been immersed in competitive swimming —she is, after all, a four-time All-American swimmer for Stanford University. Her husband Don Dasher is an avid outdoor bicyclist, but not obsessively so.

San Jose, CA, April 25, 2017 - For much of Lisa Hazen's life, she has been immersed in competitive swimming —she is, after all, a four-time All-American swimmer for Stanford University. Her husband Don Dasher is an avid outdoor bicyclist, but not obsessively so.

So there's probably a little bit of wonderment on their part that they are now proud owners of an indoor cycling business.

“I've been a competitive swimmer my whole life,” says Hazen, who is a partner with Dasher in the new indoor cycling center CycleBar Westgate West in San Jose. “I've suffered some injuries over the years and indoor cycling is low impact so it doesn't hurt me. People often don't want to go to the gym to work out because they see it as drudgery. But this is fun and it's a great workout. What could be better than that?”

In fact, Hazen, who has become an avid indoor cyclist since purchasing the CycleBar franchise, says cycling has helped her get back into shape to allow her to swim more. That's a win-win, no matter how you look at it.

Hazen said she and Dasher, who have both spent the bulk of their careers in the high-tech industry in the Silicon Valley, had been looking into franchise opportunities to augment their income and for long-term security.

Dasher said he took a “serious dive” into the world of franchises, even to the point of working with a franchise consultant.

The couple found that indoor cycling was a growing sport with a positive upside. CycleBar, an emerging concept in premium indoor cycling, seemed like the perfect fit for the couple.

And even though Dasher is an avid cyclist — outdoor, he emphasizes — he found that indoor cycling is a whole different sport.

“I didn't think I'd like it, I had that purist mentality, I thought indoor cycling was something you only did during inclement weather,” says Dasher. “It's a different sport and once you realize that, you realize it's a great cross-training workout. Training at CycleBar isn’t just a rainy-day replacement, it’s an immersive, entertaining cross training experience with instructors and classmates that make the workouts extremely rewarding.”

When asked if taking on a franchise without any experience in that particular field might be a huge leap of faith, Dasher agreed.

“That's the nature of starting a business of any type, you have to take a leap of faith,” he says. “It could be a Subway franchise, you never really know until you get there. You bring your own strengths and weaknesses to any business.”

Both Dasher and Hazen have spent their careers in high-tech. Hazen is still working in high-tech, while Dasher was the victim of downsizing, which spurred him on to look into franchising and more financial security.

Hazen's career has included companies such as Oracle, Automated Power Exchange, Medical Accuracy Device Company and Labcyte, which she currently works for.

Born in Sacramento, Hazen graduated from Stanford in 1986 with a degree in public policy. She swam with the Cardinal swim team all four years, garnering All American honors each year.

She met Dasher while they were both doing physical therapy; she was there to rehab a swim injury. Later, they joined forces to participate in a team triathlon event, she swimming, he on bicycle.

Dasher was born and raised just outside Philadelphia and moved to California in 1990, where he also worked at Oracle and other high-tech companies before his layoff.

CycleBar, an emerging concept in premium indoor cycling, has quickly made a name for itself in the fitness community with its unique approach to indoor cycling. Instructors conduct classes in a theater-like setting, complete with music, visuals and lighting that combine to deliver a motivational, multisensory, communal experience as class participants dig deep to meet their workout goals.

CycleBar offers a variety of payment plans including pay per ride or monthly memberships and provides concierge amenities including free towels, shower facilities, lockers and shoes.

Classes take place in a state-of-the-art CycleTheatre, led by CycleStar instructors who motivate their class to reach performance goals. Each ride is added to the rider’s CycleStats, which measures and logs six key metrics to track the progress of their fitness journey. Each rider also receives the class playlist via CycleBeats.

“We brand ourselves as a premier indoor cycling center,” says Dasher. “I describe it as a cross between a boutique fitness center and a high-end spa.”

CycleBar WestGate West, which is scheduled to open on May 4, will be conveniently located in West San Jose just minutes from Campbell, Cupertino, Santa Clara, Saratoga and Sunnyvale — within easy reach of people who live and work in these communities.

Dasher says the success of the franchise will depend on getting the word out to those communities.

“It's a matter of getting out in the community and making people aware we are here,” says Dasher. “We'll take a conservative approach and let demand drive growth. Eventually we'd like to open in Mountain View and Santa Clara. That's the plan.”

Pop Singer-Songwriter Jonathan Cavier to Release New Single, “When You Come Around,” On April 21

“When You Come Around” is the first single from Cavier’s upcoming full-length album, Blue Room.

Los Angeles, CA, April 23, 2017 – Pop singer-songwriter Jonathan Cavier is preparing for the release of his brand new single “When You Come Around” on April 21st, 2017. This is the first single to be released in anticipation of Cavier’s second solo album, Blue Room, which is slated for release May 12, 2017. “When You Come Around,” written and produced by Jonathan Cavier and mixed by Jason Losett, features a delicate combination of atmospheric keyboards and shimmering acoustic guitars. “When You Come Around” is a song about loving someone with all your heart and being willing to do anything for them even if they aren’t always right by your side. Cavier vocals, which are bursting with emotion, are accompanied by light, airy instrumentation, painting a vivid picture of being deeply in love.

The ten songs on Blue Room follows in the tracks of Cavier’s first solo album Premier to merge his varied pop and rock influences from the 80s, 90s and today into a sound all his own. Extracting elements from a wide range of sounds and unique instruments, Cavier continues to “transport listeners to colorful three-minute worlds” on Blue Room through his composition, lyrics, and eye-catching visual accompaniments.

About Jonathan Cavier:
Originally from Northern California, Cavier (pronounced “cav-AIR”) has been based in Phoenix, AZ for several years and performed for years as Alan Clark in atmospheric pop duo EyeTalk. Over the course of ten years and five albums, this venture saw Cavier’s music reach audiences as far-flung as Italy, the UK, and Australia. After five albums and hundreds of shows played throughout the US, Jonathan Cavier has reimagined himself and has formed a new musical identity on his debut solo album Premier. In addition to his musical endeavors, Cavier is a semi-professional tennis player and a member of the USTA and IFT. Cavier says that practicing and playing in tournaments is like “the fountain of youth.”

Order increases for the ParaZapper™ MY-3 has caused a significant increase in Lead times

Para Systems Inc. unveiled a new member to its family of zappers, the ParaZapper™ MY-3 model. This zapper which has a total of over 270 frequencies in 25 modes with better accuracy is designed to perform better than its predecessors.

Horton, AL, April 17, 2017 - David Etheredge, President Para Systems Inc., Reported that orders for the new MY-3 model have significantly increased, leading to long lead times. New employees have been added to speed up the production and shipping. The MY-3, which delivers leading performance and quality, backed by Current Controlled (CC) technology.

In addition to the increased mode selections, the new ParaZapper™ MY-3 model has a superior zapping ability i.e. able to kill microbes. The MY-3 model has a distinct specific frequency feature that allows specific frequencies to run for sufficient time for maximum effect.

"People today expect the best experience from their technology- they are counting on technology to kill parasites and microbes wherever they are," said David Etheredge. "The new ParaZapper™ MY-3 zapper gives customers the good experience they expect from the best zappers, with performance that allows them zap with more accurate consistency, when they want, in a model they will be proud to own."

The MY-3 model is designed with accurate frequencies utilizing many of Royal Raymond Rife's frequencies and technology that far exceeds the old Hulda Clark and Bob Beck zappers. The accurate frequencies make the micro-controller zappers such as this one to work better.

This model employs the constant current or current controlled output technology which is better, safer output that meets Dr. Clark's recommendations. Other cutting edge features found in the Hulda Clark zapper that are not present in other devices in the market include:

Good connection indicators: in this product, the status indicator serves as s good connection indicator with the changing colors without reducing that output.

Larger contacts: this provides a greater amount of electrical signal to produce greater effectiveness than would be achieved with smaller contacts.

"We introduced multiple frequency zappers because they can reach and destroy more organisms, and the MY-3 model is the latest in the market with amazing capabilities in killing microbes" said David.

One of the most popular zappers is the Terminator style zappers and these are very popular for their convenience. According to David Etheredge, "These zappers are limited because of two features. First, these electrodes are only about the size of a penny, which is way too small, causing skin burns, even holes in the skin from usage. Additionally, these electrodes are right next to each other, essentially shorting out much of the signal." People who have tried both zappers, while they still like the convenience of the Terminator, prefer the effectiveness offered by the best ParaZapper products."

The best results come from using a 4 point contact system with one negative contact and 3 positive contacts. In some cases, using this configuration with paddles and pads can almost double effectiveness and satisfaction.

Para Systems Inc., the maker of the positive offset zapping products as specified by Dr. Clark such as the ParaZapper™ CC2ParaZapper™ UZI-3, and the new ParaZapper™ MY-3 model. For more information on pricing and delivery, visit Hulda Clark Zapper Co at http://huldaclarkparazapper.com.

Collavate Releases Google Machine Learning Based Auto-Translation on Collaboration Workflow for Google Drive

Collavate, Inc. (San Jose, Ca.) has announced the release of Collavate 3.9.1. The upgraded version includes improvements to enhance the use of the Collavate— an original Cloud-based document management and workflow processing solution with security for personal Gmail and Google G Suite.

San Jose, CA, April 13, 2017 - Collavate, Inc. has announced the release of Collavate 3.9.1. The upgraded version includes improvements to enhance the use of the Collavate— an original Cloud-based document management and workflow processing solution with security for personal Gmail and Google G Suite. This update includes website widgets, a fully-functional task master, an auto-translating feature and a new user interface.

"Adding Google Machine Learning based translation in our app is just the beginning. We will add more unique AI features to help our users improve their work," said CEO and product evangelist, Justin Jung.

For those needing to build an enterprise portal or incorporate an intranet, the new version release makes incorporating group collaboration easier and more efficient than ever before. Now, users can copy and paste Collavate’s widget codes for workflow and post tools onto websites or Google Sites, and also add other gadgets for Google Calendar, Gmail, and other various features.

One of the most notable advances included is Post Translator, an auto-translate feature, powered by Google Cloud Machine Learning technology, lessening language barrier issues that may hinder work productivity. The translation button is located in the right corner of each post, and when clicked, the post will automatically convert the post to the user’s set profile language. Each user can use the auto-translate feature up to 10 times per day.

Usage of Collavate Groups has been improved in this new version. To organize a team project with a “to do list” approach, a team member simply fills in the project description on a post, uploads any relevant documents, and invites colleagues to the team project. A notification is automatically sent to each included team member. Once members accept the invitation, full collaboration features are immediately accessible.

Deadlines on posts has been added drive effective results-driven work. A deadline date can be assigned for the entire domain, a subgroup, or to individual(s) by clicking the clock icon, which automatically converts deadlines to the correct time zone date and time for each member. The individual(s) are notified of the deadline and are reminded accordingly when approaching the due date.

Another improvement is the updated user-friendly interface design to facilitate navigation. Contacts can easily be added to posts by directly typing @ followed by a contact’s name. Contact search suggestions has been greatly improved for the option to quickly select contact(s). Now, there is also the option to upload your own background wallpaper to customize your Home menu.

Security features are carried over from the previous version, in addition to a new designated Login page to accommodate future supportage of sign in for Google accounts and non-Google accounts. Now, non-Google users may now set up their administration screen to disable domain sharing for posts.

The improved Collavate version is made to be mobile-friendly. An icon web shortcut can be added to appear as an app on your smartphone.

Founded in 2014, Collavate, Inc. continues its upward momentum in taking the networking platform to the next level with newly released improvements. Users may login to start a free Collavate 3.9.1 upgrade by visiting the company’s website at www.collavate.com.

The celebrated Carmel Honey Company, created by 14-year-old Carmel entrepreneur and bee expert Jake Reisdorf, is now offering specially wrapped gift boxes of honey, just in time for Mother's Day.

Carmel, CA, April 10, 2017 — The celebrated Carmel Honey Company, created by 14-year-old Carmel entrepreneur and bee expert Jake Reisdorf, is now offering specially wrapped gift boxes of honey, just in time for Mother's Day.

Mother's Day is fast approaching and what better way to tell your Mom you're sweet on her than a gift box of pure, natural honey from the Carmel Honey Company?

Carmel Honey Company has a wide variety of honey and honey gift boxes available for order online. And for Mother's Day, Sunday, May 14, each gift box ordered will be wrapped in a yellow ribbon and bow.

Gift boxes, which can be customized to your (or your Mom's) favorites, can include Meadowfoam Honey, Orange Blossom Honey, Sage Honey, Wildflower Honey, Honey Stix, and pure raw honeycomb.

One of the most popular, for example, the large gift box, contains one 12-oz. Meadowfoam Honey, one 3-oz. Orange Blossom Honey, one 3-oz. Sage Honey and one Wildflower Honey Stix pack.

To order online, go to www.CarmelHoneyCompany.com.

About Jake and Carmel Honey Company:
Jake Reisdorf is the chief beekeeper and owner with his family of Carmel Honey Company, which he started as part of a school project where his teacher assigned professions to each student and directed them to research the profession and build a presentation on it.

While researching his assigned profession of website designer, Jake, 10 years old at the time, decided to take it one step further and actually create a real website. At that time, Jake had taken one beekeeping class with his Dad and thought it would be cool to design a website about honey bees.

Not only did Jake get an “A” on the project, it inspired him and spurred him to start Carmel Honey Company. That was three years ago.

His passion for honey bees grew as he learned about Colony Collapse Disorder and real honey. Expanding his research and education drove Jake to learn more about honey and bees and ultimately decide it was critical to give back.

The “Jake Gives Back” program includes sharing honey bee knowledge with kids and adults of all ages. Whether he is in a classroom speaking to first-grade students, or at a corporate event talking with business owners and seasoned professionals, his passion and appreciation of how honey bees impact our world is infectious. He also “gives back” by making a financial donation to honey bee research and education organizations.

Jake currently attends 8th grade at Carmel Middle School and keeps his knowledge of apiology (the scientific study of bees) current by continuing to manage his own honey bee hives and attending industry conferences throughout the country.

Monterey, CA, April 08, 2017 — Paying tribute to the 50th anniversary of the 1967’s “Summer of Love,” the Monterey County Fair announces that this year's theme for the Aug. 31-Sept. 4 event will be “Fair Fun in the Summer of Love.”

The fair also unveiled its new poster for this year's event featuring the artwork of Jo Mora (1876-1947), the celebrated Carmel artist, sculptor, author and muralist.

The colorful poster features a fairy princess carrying a shining star wand, sitting in a flower-bedecked coach with lightning bugs providing light and beetles resting from pulling the coach. The poster exhibits some of Mora's trademark touches, including whimsy, great detail and precise coloring.

The image is an illustration from Mora's children's book “Budgee Budgee Cottontail.” Mora wrote the story and did the illustrations in 1936 while he was traveling around the world on a freighter with his family. But it was not published until 1995, based on a promise Mora's son, Joey, made to his father to see that it find the light of day.

The image comes from the Jo Mora Trust and is the fourth time that one of Mora's illustrations has been used by the Monterey County Fair for its poster.

“We're really honored to be able to again use one of Jo Mora's wonderful illustrations because it perfectly captures the spirit and sense of fun of 1967's Summer of Love,” says Kelly Violini, Monterey County Fair CEO. “We have some exciting concerts and special events planned to celebrate our 81st year, which we feel is better and stronger than ever. The fair may be one day shorter this year, but it will have all of the same features as previous years and allows us to tighten our offerings and focus on making it better and more of a value for everyone.”

The Monterey County Fair will run from Thursday, Aug. 31-Monday, Sept. 4, 2017

Here's an in-depth look at the upcoming season:

Program 1: Oct. 14 and 15 (with youth concert on Oct. 16)
Pianist Orion Weiss, a favorite of Monterey Symphony fans, will lend his virtuosic skills to Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 23 (originally composed for the historically acclaimed Nikolai Rubinstein) in the season opener, during which the orchestra will perform Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9, "From the New World," Op. 95.

Weiss has performed with the major American orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and New York Philharmonic. His deeply felt and exceptionally crafted performances go far beyond his technical mastery and have won him worldwide acclaim.

Program 2: Nov. 18-19
South Korean-born David Jae-Weon Huh, silver medalist at the 2015 Santander Piano Competition, will lend his talents to Sergei Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3, Op. 26, in this powerful program, which also will include the Symphony's interpretation of Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, Op. 68 ("Pastoral.)

Recognized for his sense of poetry and technical brilliance, Huh has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia and the United States, and has appeared in numerous festivals, including recitals at Animato den Paris, San Francisco Music Festival, and Leipzig Euro Music Festival, among many others.

This will be his first appearance with the Monterey Symphony.

Program 3: Feb. 17-18

Symphony audiences will remember de Solaun for his previous solo recital, featuring Mussogorky's Pictures at an Exhibition.

Program 4: March 17-18 (with youth concert on March 19)
Celebrate St. Patrick's Day weekend with the Monterey Symphony and wall-to-wall Mozart, a program that will include the overture from his beloved opera, Don Giovanni.

This concert will be performed under the baton of guest conductor Connor Gray Covington (recently appointed Assistant Conductor of the Utah Symphony) and will include Mozart's Symphony No. 1, KV 16, and Symphony No. 41, KV 551 ("Jupiter").

Covington is currently completing his tenure as the Rita E. Hauser Conducting Fellow at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he is being mentored by Philadelphia Orchestra Music Director Yannick Nezet-Seguin. He recently made his debut with the Curtis Symphony at Carnegie Hall, sharing the podium with Ludovic Morlot.

A special guest pianist, to be selected by Covington, also will be part of this spectacular program.

Program 5: April 21-22 (with youth concert on April 23)
Guest pianist Juan Perez Floristan, winner at the 2015 Santander Piano Competition, will showcase his talents with a performance of Johannes Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 83, in a program that also will include the Symphony's rendition of Felix Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4, Op. 90 ("Italian") -- a piece Mendelssohn, himself, declared to be the "jolliest" he ever composed.

Regarded as a beacon among new generations of Spanish and European musicians, Perez has performed with the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic, Malmo Symphony, Radio Television Espanola, Seville Royal Symphony, Gran Canaria Philharmonic, Malaga and Cordoba Symphonies, and the Andres Segovia and Spanish National Youth Orchestras.

Program 6: May 19-20
The incomparable Phillipe Bianconi will be at the piano for the Monterey Symphony's final program of the season, performing Franz Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 2.

Liszt perfected the art of thematic transformation and took it to an extreme level with this impassioned concerto.

French pianist Bianconi has been described as an artist whose playing is “always close to the soul of the music, filling the space with poetry and life” (Washington Post), “an extraordinary exhibition of musicianship, technical control and good taste which lent the music a freshness, immediacy and conviction one all too seldom encounters” (The London Times). After winning the Silver Medal in the Seventh Van Cliburn International Competition, Bianconi made an acclaimed recital debut at Carnegie Hall in 1987 and, since then, has enthralled audiences and critics throughout the world.

Also featured will be Manuel de Falla's lovely Noches en los Jardines de Espana, his most impressionist-style work, which details three gardens in a setting for piano and orchestra.

Chamber Program: Dec. 7 (7:30 p.m. at All Saints Church)
The Monterey Symphony is pleased to offer a special holiday chamber music treat, featuring concertmaster Christina Mok, with selections that include Piazzolla, Beethoven, Mozart, and the Hampton String Quartet's "What if Mozart wrote 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas!"

Come have fun and enjoy holiday music in a classical style with the Monterey Symphony chamber players.
